If you’re hunting for Gluten Free Dairy Free Recipes that don’t taste “healthy” (you know what I mean), this is it. Comforting, spicy, creamy, and full of character, cajun sausage pasta dairy free might just become your new weeknight go-to.
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

Cajun Seasoning (or use 1 tbsp pre-mixed)
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Chicken Pasta Base
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast cut into cubes
  • 14 ounces pre-cooked smoked sausage sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion diced
  • 12 ounces penne pasta gluten-free if needed
  • 1 can 14.5 oz fire roasted tomatoes (with juice)
  • 2 cups chicken broth or bone broth
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened full-fat coconut cream or heavy cream if not dairy-free
  • Fresh parsley or green onion for topping

Method

Step 1: Season the Chicken
  1. Mix the Cajun spices in a bowl. Add the cubed chicken and toss well so every piece is coated.
Step 2: Brown the Chicken
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Don’t worry if it’s not fully cooked yet.
Step 3: Add Onion & Sausage
  1. Toss in the diced onion and smoked sausage slices. Cook for about 2–3 minutes until the onion softens and turns translucent.
Step 4: Cook Pasta & Tomatoes Together
  1. Pour in the penne pasta, fire roasted tomatoes, and chicken broth. Stir well, cover, and let it come to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir every few minutes until the pasta is tender and saucy.
Step 5: Make It Creamy
  1. Stir in the coconut cream until smooth and luscious. Top with parsley or green onion, and your cajun sausage pasta dairy free is ready to serve!
